What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?

The CSA movement started in the US in 1985, founded after the Japanese model from the 1960’s called Teikei “Food with a farmers face on it.” This progressive model allows the community to actively participate in and support local agriculture by buying local, seasonal, food grown naturally without the use of herbicides and pesticides directly from the farm. Families or individuals become members at the beginning of the season and in return receive a box of freshly picked vegetables on a weekly basis.

Why Join?

The benefits of a CSA are many… Receive the freshest food. Get more veggies in your diet. Support local businesses. Diversify your diet. Partake in a just alternative to industrial agriculture. Enjoy and explore new tastes and flavors. Convince your kids that fresh veggies are delicious and fun. Sun-ripened tomatoes. Sweet corn that makes you smile. Melons that slip off the vine. Sweet and crunchy carrots. Connection to seasonal abundance.

When & Where:

Our 10 week Winter CSA season starts in November. Winter CSA pickup times are 3-9pm on Tuesdays.

Our 24 week Summer CSA season starts, depending on weather, near the end of May or beginning of June. Summer CSA shares are picked up at the farm and pick-up is every Tuesday from 4-9pm.

We are located at 17565 Placer Hills Road, Meadow Vista, CA 95722.

To ensure the highest quality of produce, shares will not be available after pick-up hours. Shares will not be made available for pick-up during Farm Stand hours. We live in an area where pressure from wildlife is an issue. If we were to leave CSA shares out overnight for next day pick-ups, they would be ruined. We simply do not have the time to move CSA shares in and out of our cooler to accommodate tardy pick-ups. If you are unable to pick-up your share, please make arrangements with a friend or neighbor to pick up for you.
